The Akron Steel Band’s March 21 concert packed the Kenmore Branch Library with an animated audience jamming to the beats of “Soca Feet”, “Cool Kids,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Somebody That I Used to Know,” “All the Small Things,” “I Gotta Feeling”, “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” “Radioactive,” “Disturbia” and “Crazy Train.”
Complemented with crowd dancers, continuous rounds of applause and casual refreshments, the concert was a highlight event at the library’s Spring Equinox Celebration
and Open House,
“The students have worked so hard and it shows,” says music teacher Melanie Reymond, who directs the band. “They are such a joy to work with on a daily basis.”
The band has already begun practicing new music for its next concert, Thursday, April 23, 5 p.m., at the school. The event will also showcase a display of students’ artwork.
