Instructional Technology

Summit Academy has an innovative and dynamic technology program in which we embrace the future by empowering our students with digital tools and skills. Our instruction is guided by the Ohio Learning Standards for Technology, which define what students need to know and be able to do to succeed in a technological world. Our goal is to cultivate a tech-savvy generation that thrives in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. To achieve this, we provide cutting-edge tech-based learning opportunities through the use of online curriculum components and digital learning activities. Students become proficient in using common digital programs, learn to employ internet search tools safely and effectively, and are exposed to a variety of other technology tools within their classrooms. Special topics from coding and robotics to digital art and cybersecurity are integrated into general courses as appropriate, and are sometimes offered as electives or extended learning opportunities. We place paramount importance on online safety, providing annual education on digital citizenship for all students and ensuring a secure online learning environment within our schools. 

Our commitment to ensuring effective implementation of technology in our classrooms extends to providing dedicated Technology Integration Coaches who work closely with our teachers. These coaches play a pivotal role in supporting educators to fully integrate technology into their instructional practices. They offer guidance, training, and resources to help teachers effectively implement tech-based learning components and activities, tailoring them to each student’s unique learning needs and pace. With a 1:1 student to computer ratio, we prioritize facilitating enriching learning opportunities and a comprehensive learning experience that prepares our students for success in the modern world.
