Thanks to the Knoth Family McDonald’s in Warren, Summit Academy Community School – Warren received nearly $500 in donations from its recent McTeacher Night. The event, hosted by Summit Academy school and administration staff, generated proceeds from online orders and apple pie sales from 4-7 p.m. on October 9.

Kyle Baldwin, Coordinator of Fundraising and Enrollment for Summit Academy, explains that the Knoth McDonald’s provided 240 apple pies – free of charge — for the school to pass out for donations during the three-hour fundraiser.

“The apple pie donations resulted in $360 for the school,” says Baldwin, adding that donations for individual pies ranged from $1 up to $40. The online orders, of which the school received 20 percent of proceeds, produced $137 for the K-7 special education community school, located at 2106 Arbor Ave. S.E. in Warren.

As costumed staff members encouraged patrons to participate in the event, others had the opportunity to sing the school’s praises.

“Overall, it was a fantastic event, both for exposure and fundraising. The strong turnout helped raise important funds to support our school’s needs, and it’s definitely something we want to do again,” Baldwin says.
