Bringing more than 10 years of human resources experience to Summit Academy, Brittany Marshall says she looks forward to delivering the highest level of service to her colleagues — present and future — as Summit’s new HR generalist.
“Working in the public sector always came naturally to me,” says Marshall, expressing her desire to apply skills she acquired in her past roles to Summit Academy.
Most recently, Marshall served as the human resources manager for the Akron Municipal Clerk of Courts. Prior, she was the personnel administrator for the Summit County Executive’s Office after advancing from her role as the office’s benefits specialist. Earlier, she served as the human resources administrative assistant for the Summit County Sherriff’s Office.
“HR is my niche, and I love conducting onboarding and recruiting,” says Marshall, sharing her conviction that employees appreciate recognition for their work and rise to the occasion, in turn.
“When we are valued, we put the work in,” she says.
Human Resources Director Denise Fry says Marshall’s strengths in staff recruitment and retention will go a long way in serving Summit Academy and its mission. In addition, her experience serving a large number of employees, such as the approximate 1,500 in Summit County offices, make her a complementary addition to Summit’s Human Resources Department.
A native of Goodyear Heights, Marshall lives in Green with her husband, Steven, and the couple’s children, Brycen and Anya, and black lab-boxer mix, Mooky. Marshall earned associate degrees in both Business Management/Human Resources and Criminal Justice from Eastern Gateway Community College.
