Sean Gaffney joined Summit Academy Management’s finance department as controller on August 4. Gaffney says he looks forward to bringing both his expertise in public school finance and commitment to Summit Academy’s mission to his new post.
As the assistant treasurer for Leetonia Exempted Village Schools for the past four years, Gaffney has worked extensively in Ohio school finance, fund accounting and financial reporting and compliance. Prior, he served as a financial analyst for Marucci and Gaffney Excavating in Youngstown.
In addition to delivering financial acumen, Gaffney says he plans to establish strong working relationships with Summit Academy stakeholders. He is a dual-degree graduate of Walsh University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Business Administration. Gaffney also holds an MBA from Ashland University.
A resident of Columbiana, Gaffney enjoys spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities and sports.
