Summit Academy – Toledo Principal Marquita Murphy treated tots at Clever Bee Academy childcare center to story time last Wednesday. As Murphy read author JaNay Brown-Wood’s “Jam, Too?” to the children, they were captivated by the book’s rhythmic prose, she says.
“The kiddos were very attentive and very excited to interact the instrument sounds with me as I read them,” describes Murphy, noting the story’s reference to a beach drum circle.
Summit Academy – Toledo has participated in parent meet sessions at Clever Bee Academy’s three Toledo locations and is planning to collaborate with the center on a summer community day.
“I am hoping to continue partnering with Clever Bee and helping the preschoolers transition to kindergarten at Summit – Toledo,” Murphy says.
Towards that end, Summit Academy – Toledo also is hosting Kindergartener for a Day. The Friday, April 25, 9-11 a.m. event, which takes place at the school at 301 Collingwood Blvd., is open to soon-to-be-kindergarteners and their families.
Attendees will spend craft-making time in a classroom with a teacher, listen to a story, and enjoy snack time and conversation.
“We’re hoping that families take away that this is a safe place and a welcoming learning environment for their children to start their educational journey,” says Administrative Assistant Wendy Hall.
