Soon-to-be kindergarteners and their families will have a chance to experience school firsthand at a Mock Kindergarten Day, Monday, March 17, 9-11 a.m. at Summit Academy Community School – Parma, 5868 Stumph Road, Parma.

Attendees of the free event will tour the school, meet teachers and other staff members, munch on snacks and take home a free backpack, fidget, book and information about Summit Academy – Parma, a K-12 public, tuition-free community school.

A series of brief, interactive stations include a read-aloud story time by Acting Principal Alexandra Morris and mini art session during which children will paint tulips using plastic forks. In addition, Sensei Carolyn Berkheimer will present therapeutic martial arts demonstrations. Summit Academy – Parma offers therapeutic martial arts to its students as a physical education class, one that helps students build skills ranging from academic focus and self-discipline to physical fitness.

“This fun event will give families an opportunity to tour the school and get a feel for the different programs we offer at our school,” says Morris. “We hope families walk away from our Mock Kindergarten Day feeling excited to enroll their child into our kindergarten program.”

Families of 2025-2026 kindergarteners should RSVP for the event by calling 440-888-5407 by Friday, March 13, however, walk-ins are accepted.
