Juniors and seniors interested in learning more about state law and government may apply for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office Teen Ambassador Board program, which has extended its application deadline to Thursday, July 21. Sales tax holiday approaching
Ready, set, shop. Ohio’s back-to-school sales tax holiday begins at 12 a.m., Friday, Aug. 5 and ends at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 7. The following purchases are exempt from sales and use tax during the holiday:
- Clothing items priced at $75 or less.
- School supplies priced at $20 or less.
- School instructional materials priced at $20 or less.
Opportunity for 17-year-old rising seniors – Youth at the Booth
The office of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has opened poll worker opportunities to 17-year-old rising seniors, beginning with Ohio’s August 2 primary election. The Youth at the Booth program enables qualifying students to earn about 100-$150. Students who participate may also be eligible for community service hours, extra credit in school and get a boost to their college applications, according to a news release from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.
