Pancakes topped with whipped cream and confetti sprinkles will set the scene for a celebratory Valentine’s Day Pancake Breakfast at Summit Academy Secondary School – Canton. The breakfast is being presented by the school’s Parents Teachers Students Together association to generate funds for field trips and prom, as well as to unite students, families and staff for a festive event.

“We wanted to bring our families together,” says Briana Reasonover, administrative assistant at the school. She adds that Deb Baker, the school’s cafeteria/lunch staff member, and Kelsey Harrington, physical education instructor, came up with the idea as way to build camaraderie among the school community.

“Our students have been working hard on improving assessment scores,” adds Principal Tiffany George. “We hope this event generates enough funding to provide our students with a celebratory spring field trip to honor their hard work and academic improvements.”

Reasonover says the school is anticipating abundant family participation in the event.

“We hope they take this time to eat breakfast with their children, teachers and staff, to sit with us on a more personal level. It builds that relationship for all of us.”

In addition to pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and hot chocolate will be also served.
