Students from Summit Academy Elementary, Middle and Secondary schools in Akron put their creativity to goodwill to craft ornaments for a wreath decorated and donated to the Akron Children’s Hospital 2019 Holiday Tree Festival. The charitable event was held at the John S. Knight Center, November 23-December 1.
The students’ “Autistic Voices are Golden” wreath was embellished with a myriad of fanciful adornments, many in representative tones of gold.
“Gold is a frequently used color [to denote autism] because the element, gold, on the periodic table is ‘Au’ and it is a precious and valuable metal,” explains Em Ellis, LSW for Summit Academy Community School – Dayton.
The project was coordinated by our own marketing master, Lesley Boland, who used the extra ornaments to decorate a tree with special meaning on display at the Summit Academy Management building in Akron.
