Mari Dew

Current Summit Academy Curriculum Administrator Mari Dew will advance to the position of Curriculum Director, beginning July 1.

Dew’s strong work ethic, expertise and loyalty to Summit Academy Schools and students pave the way for her well-deserved advancement, says Executive Director of Curriculum Heather Singer.

Dew has been described as a quintessential educator. She joined Summit Academy in 2003 as a long-term substitute teacher at Summit Academy Secondary School – Canton. She says she loved the students and staff so much that she continued on at the school as a social studies teacher from 2006 to 2011. Dew then transitioned to her role as a curriculum administrator.

“I’ve been proud to serve as a curriculum administrator for the past 11 years, supporting our staff members in connecting their passion for teaching with effective strategies that meet the needs of our students,” Dew says.

Before joining Summit Academy, Dew served in a number of academic roles, including: substitute teacher for the Stark County Educational Center in North Canton; adjunct faculty for Indiana Wesleyan University in Cleveland; and director of Christian Education and Youth for Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canton, among others.

The valedictorian of her Lake Shore High School (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) graduating class, Dew went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. She then earned two graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in Theology from Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and Master of Sacred Theology from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. In addition, Dew received her teacher licensure from Notre Dame College in South Euclid. Among her credentials, Dew has served as a Resident Educator Program Coordinator, RESA Facilitator and Certified Mentor; Ohio Improvement Process Internal Facilitator; Ohio Leadership Advisory Council (OLAC) Certified Facilitator; and OTES evaluator, in addition to several others.

Dew expressed her a deep conviction for Summit Academy: “I believe deeply in the mission of Summit Academy Schools,” she says. “Every student deserves to learn from teachers who love them and believe that they can grow to fulfill their dreams … I look forward to new challenges and continuing to raise the bar of Summit Academy excellence.”
