Jacquelyn “Jacci” Gilliland joined Summit Academy Management on May 3 as the Director of School/Sponsor Relations and Compliance.
Jacci brings a wealth of experience to Summit Academy including 13 years with the Ohio Department of Education. There, she began as an administrative assistant in 2006 and advanced to the position of contract evaluator/negotiator for the Office of Legal Counsel. Jacci then joined the ODE’s Office of School Sponsorship where she served as a contract evaluator/negotiator for five years and later as a program administrator II. She then transitioned to the Office of Integrated Student Supports where she held the post of education program specialist from 2018-2019. Most recently, Jacci served as the operating procedures manager for Charter School Specialists, an Ohio-based team which serves community schools through monitoring, oversight and technical assistance.
In her role with Summit Academy, Jacci will work collaboratively with SAM staff, school governing authorities and sponsors to establish, promote and maintain governing authority and sponsor relations. She will primarily be responsible for ensuring school governing authorities and schools are in compliance with legal and sponsor requirements.
“I am drawn to the mission of SAM and the students who are served. I look forward working with the boards … as well as with the individual schools,” says Jacci, who earned her Associate degree in Applied Science (Legal Assisting) from Columbus State Community College in Columbus.
