Who Dey! Who Dey! Who Dey!  You can hear the roars for the Cincinnati Bengals all through Ohio as the Super Bowl approaches.  However, we should be cheering on Summit Academy Community School for Alternative Learners – Middletown.

The students of Middletown Community have been collecting canned and nonperishable food items to fill blessing boxes around the community.

Principal Kristen Parkes said, “There is a high need for families in our community for food and other resources, especially during the pandemic.  We have a lot of local food pantries, but they have set days and hours.  Our blessing boxes around town can be accessed and utilized at any time and by any family, even if they don’t meet all requirements for some of the food banks.”

In the past, Middletown students collected over 300 cans to fill four blessing boxes multiple times.  They could bring in canned food or nonperishable items in order to wear Bengals gear, black and orange, or Summit Academy spirit wear leading up to the Super Bowl.

As the halls of Middletown Community turn into a sea of black and orange, so have the walls.  Art Teacher, Emily Vriesman-Payne, the art teacher, created a mural of student artwork.  She submitted their artwork to a few media outlets . It was featured in several articles related to the Super Bowl.
