The Summit Educational Foundation (SEF) has named Leo Hyland as its executive director. Leo brings an extensive professional background in education leadership and mission advancement.
Leo most recently served as the president of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School where he worked collaboratively with the school’s Executive and Foundation Boards. Prior, he was the president of Cleveland Central Catholic High School for 11 years, and led the school to the successful completion of its $5.8 million Beacon of Hope campaign. Among his multiple duties as the school’s CEO, Leo led its advancement efforts to secure funding to operate the school and provide tuition assistance to those in need. Earlier in his career, Leo served as the director of advancement for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School and as the director of special gifts for the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
As executive director of the SEF, formed to raise funds and awareness for Summit Academy Schools, Leo is laying groundwork for the foundation. His first-year priorities for the foundation include: developing organizational clarity, foundation expectations, foundation administration and business practices, fundraising and marketing. Focusing on these priorities in the first year, Leo says, “We will provide the opportunity to build strong relationships that will lay the groundwork to sustain and growth the mission of the SEF, which will in turn enhance the experience for all students and their families.”
Leo holds a Master’s of Nonprofit Organizations degree from Case Western Reserve University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communication from Ohio University. He is a graduate of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2013.

Having a proper educational experience where children with learning differences can thrive is invaluable. Fortunately, for the families of nearly 2,500 children in Ohio with autism and ADHD, Summit Academies Schools provides these experiences.
But those experiences come with a cost – one that isn’t fully funded through state and federal dollars or through property taxes typically available to public, non-charter schools.
Summit Educational Foundation exists to raise funds and awareness for Summit Academy Schools and bridge the gap between the state/federal funding and the cost to educate each student. The foundation uses donations to help create successful learning environments for educators, students and families through investments in professional development, teacher salaries, programs and equipment.
