Eric Hall has been selected as the director for Summit Academy – Youngstown. He begins his new position with the 2021-2022 school year. Classes start August 19 at the 144 N. Schenley Ave., Youngstown school.
Hall’s extensive background as a school administrator includes his most recent position as a Dean and Assistant Principal for STEAM Academy in Warren. His previous posts include school attendance administrator for the Irving Independent School District, Assistant Principal for J.O. Davis Elementary School, and Dean of students for Nimitz High School, all in Irving, Texas. Hall brings more than 10 years of experience as a certified K-12 special education teacher. He also delivers experience as a crisis counselor, juvenile detention officer and youth counselor. In addition, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard for eight years.
Hall earned his BA in psychology from Grambling State University. He went on to receive his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.
“My hope for the upcoming school year is to create an academic environment in which students not only excel, but exceed,” Hall says. “The only asset greater than the acquisition of knowledge, is the application.”
Hall says he values time with his family and enjoys fishing and playing tennis with his sons. Hall also serves as an associate minister at Third Baptist Church in Youngstown.
“I’m also a chess coach and it’s by far my favorite hobby,” he adds.
Summit Academy – Youngstown serves students from kindergarten through seventh grade. Summit Academy specializes in educating diverse learners, such as those with ADHD and autism, and is a tuition-free, public, community school.
