The toughest people in the world aren’t necessarily the people who always survive. Those people are the ones filled with emotions of deep depression, regret and worthlessness. Each year 40,000 Americans commit suicide, which is the one of the leading cause of death in the United States, that is equivalent to an American dying every 12.95 minutes. Suicide is potentially preventable.
As the Summit Academy Family, we encourage you to listen to your peers, coworkers, students and children if they voice thoughts of suicide. Recognize the importance of family, school and social connectedness, a powerful protective factor against suicide. Be aware of anyone who seems to be withdrawing from social contact.
If you or anyone you know is in a crisis, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-TALK or visit: http://bit.ly/1lbJkDl.
