Carol, a Middletown Mom
I’m writing this letter because my son attends Summit Academy in Middletown. This school has made such an impact on my son in his academic skills, as well as his self-esteem. My son is in 2nd/3rd grade and he was having a very difficult time in public schools in all areas academically. Since starting Summit Academy in the fall of this school year, he is bringing home all S’s, which is a big change since last year, he was going to be held back in public school and was struggling so much in all areas. After speaking with his teachers, he is doing excellent with the help of his teachers and Summit Academy in general. He is even able to help other classmates when his work is complete and they are struggling in a certain area of learning. This has helped him build confidence that he is capable of doing well in school and well enough to help others who may be struggling. The Martial Arts Program at Summit Academy has also helped my son greatly. I’ve spoken with his instructor and he tells me that my son is an excellent karate student, and very well behaved. At public school, his behavior wasn’t at its best, but all of this has changed since starting Summit Academy.
Summit Academy has made life easier at home also. My son enjoys going to school now and is very eager to learn and help others. His self esteem has improved greatly also. The struggles of homework are no longer, and I find him reading and writing all the time, and wanting to learn at home. Without Summit, I believe my son would still be struggling in public schools, if not bored because he had already mastered some of the things being taught last year and not receiving the extra help needed in his studies.
I would highly recommend Summit Academy to anyone with a child with ADHD; It has been a great experience so far for our family and I’m sure it will continue to only improve. Summit and its staff have been very helpful and always willing to help if needed.
