What’s Happening This Week?

In all Summit Academy Schools, February will be recognized and celebrated as Black History month. All throughout the month of February, your child will be reading about a variety of African Americans that have made a difference to the world that we live in, including Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, and Muhammad Ali. We will be discussing how these individuals have made it a better world for all to live in.
Also to celebrate these outstanding and courageous individuals, we will be watching informational videos that will portray the struggles and successes that they were faced with.
|Reading||In Reading your child will be learning how to identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. To develop this skill your child will be reading and listening to a variety of books and discussing them with the class to develop the purpose the author was trying to convey to the reader.|
