Today is National Dog Day!
Summit Academy is lucky to have four Service/Therapy Dogs in our buildings!

Mr. Miyagi, a young 16-year-old Shibu Inu, graces the hallways of the administration office in Akron. Mr. Miyagi enjoys naps, treats, and the occasional pat on the head.

Barkley is 3 1/2 years old with the personality of a calm elderly man! He is a standard Golden Doodle weighing in at a hefty 100 pounds! He enjoys cuddling with his baby blanket and running around with Dayton Elementary students at recess. Barkley’s favorite spot in the school building is under any bean table he can find room for himself!
When Barkley comes to school, he loves sharing a banana with the school Custodian (Mr. Frank Ried).

Harper Hope is known as Happy Hyper Harper Hope to the students at Akron Elementary. Harper is an almost two-year-old Golden Doodle and has been visiting Akron Elementary since she was 16 weeks old.
When a student or staff member is upset, Harper will immediately go over to the person and put her head on their lap or use her snout to push their hand up to pet her. She is great at giving hugs and kisses!
Her hobbies are tearing up stuffed toys, chasing soccer and tennis balls, and running laps in the yard. She loves bully sticks and belly rubs! She also is the neighborhood greeter, barking and wagging her big, fluffy tail to get attention. Her heart is as big as she is!

Glider has been the unofficial therapy dog and mascot at Canton Secondary since he and his mom, Ms. Kara Smith, the IEP Coordinator, joined the Summit family in 2019.
He is a 6-year-old Golden Labrador whose favorite things include doing tricks for treats, visiting with all the students and staff, and calming students down who are having a difficult time.
