Sandra “Sandy” Blais

Longtime Summit Academy Lead Intervention Specialist Sandra “Sandy” Blais will advance to her new role as Special Education Regional (South) Director, beginning August 1, 2022.

“We are extremely fortunate to place someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Sandy in this critical position,” said Erica Richley-Duda, MSEd, LPCC-S, CCTP Executive Director of Special Education.

“Sandy’s advancement is not only a reflection of her talent and expertise as a special education professional, but also of her dedication to Summit Academy and our students.”

A licensed Intervention Specialist (mild to moderate), Blais earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master’s in Special Education from Miami University.

Blais began her Summit Academy career in 2014 as an Intervention Specialist for Summit Academy Community School – Cincinnati.  During her three years in this position, she taught students in grades 4 through 7. In 2017, Blais was promoted to the position of Lead Intervention Specialist at Summit Academy Community School – Cincinnati.

“Her experiences supervising and mentoring intervention specialists, working with building staff on compliance requirements and training them on a variety of special education topics, among many other responsibilities, have prepared Sandy well for her new role,” Richley-Duda said.

“At Summit I have learned the importance of digging deeper to determine learning gaps and root causes in various areas,” Blais said.. “Summit Academy has taught me a deeper appreciation of the uniqueness of each student and an appreciation of how the environment at Summit can help a child blossom.”
