King Sportsman’s Tavern of Akron has selected Summit Academy as the beneficiary of its June 8 Poker Run for Autism fundraiser. The event, which starts and ends at 1402 W. Waterloo Road in Akron, is expected to draw up to 100 participants—including those driving cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles.
The Sunday event will feature games, food, a DJ and raffle drawings. Registration fees are $20 per rider and $10 per passenger. Each participant will receive a meal ticket, scorecard and a chance to win a $100 prize. Event day registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the run begins with kickstands up at 11 a.m.
“This event is a great example of the community coming together to support our students,” says Rick Rockich, Foundation Director at Summit Educational Foundation. “Not only does it raise essential funds, it also helps spread awareness of the programs and resources we provide to help students with autism thrive.”
Funds raised will go to the Summit Educational Foundation to provide Summit Academy Schools’ students, families and staff with successful learning environments through investments in classroom tools, learning resources and supplies; co-curricular activities; professional development for educators; and building renovations and equipment.
